Report: Russia becomes top oil supplier for India in October
NEW DELHI, Nov 2 (PRIME) -- Russia has become India's top oil supplier, edging past the traditionally dominant suppliers Saudi Arabia and Iraq with 946,000 barrels per day delivered in October, accounting for 22% of the imports, newspaper the Economic Times reported citing energy cargo tracker Vortexa on Wednesday.
It was the highest ever volume supplied in a month.
Iraq’s share in the imports stood at 20.5% and of Saudi Arabia’s at 16%.
"There remains much uncertainty on whether Russian crude deliveries can be sustained at this level post the December 5 E.U. ban, with the availability of ice-class tankers to transport crude from the Russian Baltic ports being one of the biggest constraints," Serena Huang, an analyst at Vortexa, said.
